Going Viral

14 – 17 April 2012  City Halls and CCA Glasgow

An exciting inclusive new creative music project for all young people (10-15 yr) during their Easter Holidays to mark Global Day of Immunology in April 2012.

Paragon and Sound Strategies are creating a new piece of music with young people to explore immunology ideas in music.  Using ideas from Beethoven’s “V for Victory” motto in the 5th Symphony, the young people will devise their own piece for a performance at the CCA on Tuesday 17 April at 7.00 pm.

During the intensive 4-day project participants will explore two main aspects connected with immunology: mutation and viral transmission.  As well as looking at the activity of micro organisms, they will also be able to see how human activity closely resembles viral activity in respect of information flow – especially nowadays through social media and viral marketing.

The European Immunology Congress comes to Glasgow in September 2012 attracting 5000 delegates from all over the world and the new piece will also receive a further performance at that time.   This year’s European Immunology Congress is being hosted by the British Society of Immunology who are supporting this Going Viral project.
