Make Music Move (M3) is an inclusive performance programme of music and dance for young people (14-20 yrs) with and without disabilities who explore innovative new music and dance techniques that incorporate the skills and abilities of each group member.

M3 is unique in that dancers have the rare opportunity to devise and perform new work with musicians who perform live with them on stage.  We explore the relationship between music and dance - sometimes using the music to stimulate the dance and sometimes using dance moves to inspire the music.  The programme is devised by Scottish Dance Theatre’s Dance Agent for Change, Caroline Bowditch and Paragon’s Creative Director, Ninian Perry, meeting regularly throughout the year and during school holidays.  Recent performances include Tramway 4 on 29 July and Dundee Rep Theatre on 20 September 2011.  New performances are planned for Spring and Summer 2012.

On February 18 2012, Paragon’s M3 group  will perform as part of the Go-Dance Festival at the Theatre Royal. They will present a brand new piece inspired by contemporary music played live on stage by Paragon musicians, called Make Me Move. The main themes of the piece are: Connections – Attractions – Repellents.  Moves are sometimes expressed in minute detail and sometimes magnified into large shapes but always constantly driven by the power of the music.  In this performance M3 will be joined by young dancers from YDance.

One of our dancers, Jodie Taylor, will be giving a talk about Make Music Move at the Pathways to the Profession symposium on Jan 19 2012 in Dundee. Visit the Scottish Dance Theatre webpage for more details.
