Ninian Perry

Creative Director

Ninian is a founder member of Paragon Ensemble and a passionate believer in the power of new music to help change people’s lives for the better.  In 1990 he set up Paragon's Creative Music Programme; his work in schools and the wider community is regarded as one of the most successful models for bringing people together from all walks of life to create new music.  He studied at Dartington College of Arts, the Royal College of Music and York University.   ninian-paragon@btconnect.com

Claire Docherty

Music facilitator

Claire writes music for chamber ensembles, choirs and theatre. She trained as a workshop facilitator with Paragon in 2006, and since then has worked as a creative music project leader and facilitator, designing and delivering projects supporting children and adults of all ages and abilities to compose and perform their own music.  She develops new creative programs and when not at Paragon she currently works as music development artist on ‘Artreach,’ a programme of participation and artistic development for people with learning disabilities at Artlink Central.  She also mentors and trains new practitioners to the field.
Daniel Padden

Daniel Padden

Music facilitator

Daniel Padden joined Paragon in 2010. He is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed and recorded throughout Europe. He has led music workshops for children and adults, with particular emphasis on improvisation, expression and creativity. Outside of his educational music work, he composes regularly for film and theatre, and also performs and records as a member of The One Ensemble and Volcano The Bear.

Kimberley Moore

Music facilitator

Kim is an experienced composer and performer based in Glasgow. Since graduating from Glasgow University she has worked as a music practitioner with the Paragon Ensemble from 2010.  Her work includes music and dance collaborations for nursery children; vocal workshops for primary schools; devising music and movement workshops for young people with disabilities at City Halls Optimusic Suite. She plays in the band Zoey Van Goey (66)

Tom Oakes

Music facilitator

Tom Oakes is a flautist, guitarist, composer and teacher currently based in Edinburgh and has been a practitioner with Paragon for one year.  He is dedicated to music composition and improvisation and passing on these skills to people of all ages.  He works in a number of mediums including, Traditional, Folk, Hip Hop and World music.  Tom is founder member and manager of the ‘Auvo Quartet’.

Lorna Gilfedder

Music Facilitator

Lorna Gilfedder is a musician and practitioner with Paragon. Recent projects have included Make Music Move, and the Higher Music Improvisation Program at Lourdes Secondary School and Holyrood High School. She has also recently been involved in music projects with prisoners at HM Prison Barlinnie. Lorna plays guitar and sings in Golden Grrrls and Spectator Sports, and plays percussion and sings with Bill Wells in the National Jazz Trio Of Scotland.
